Have you ever seen a Savoyard hen? With its 260 km and 4000m of positive elevation, this bike route linking the Maurienne valley and the Tarentaise valley has a trace in the shape of a hen.

Bike&Trip offers you the challenge of “Tour de la Poule (hen)” from Albertville.

Highlights of the day :


  • Passing trhough the Maurienne Valley by charming little roads mostly with little frequency
  • A large part of the day in the Vanoise National Park, probably with many marmots
  • Passing through one of the most beautiful villages in France, Bonneval-sur-arc

Level

 Confirmed level for the cyclist challenge #4. This means that you ride regularly and are used to ride on mountain roads/ mountainous area.

 

Variant for intermediate level. Possibility not to do the first part of the route (between Albertville and Aussois) and start riding from Aussois.

Variant for confirmed level. Possibility not to do the first part of the route (between Albertville and Aussois) and start riding from Aussois.

Departure & Arrival : Albertville

Route : 260 km et d+ 4000 m

This 4th challenge begins quietly by pleasant small roads of the combe of Savoie then the lower valley of the Maurienne to Modane. From there you enter the Vanoise park and begin a first climb where you will cross the barrier of the forts of Esseillon to reach the charming and authentic village of Aussois.

 

The road continues through Termingon, Valcenis, Lanslebourg and the (small) Col de la Madeleine, then Bessans before arriving at one of the most beautiful villages in France, Bonneval-sur-Arc.

 

Then comes the col de l’Iseran, the highest road pass in the Alps and the highest point of this “Tour de la poule”. At the top you swing into the valley of the Tarentaise and you begin the return to the descending profile towards Albertville. 


A support vehicle will be available for the transport of the day luggage, refueling and mechanical assistance.

 

At midday, a lunch break will be offered in the heart of the sumptuous Vanoise Park
